Web Conference EDLD 5352
I attended a web conference this afternoon along with 23 other participants. Although the conference itself did not last as long as I was expecting it did provide insight on web 2.o tools that are being used in various campuses. At the begning it was a bit confusing at times with everyone discussing different topics at the same time, but about 10 minutes into the conference the discussions became more clear. I was surprised to find that the conference did not just focus on assignment questions, but also on just general comments and concerns students had. I learned that a variety of web 2.0 tools are free and can be easily accessed. I liked that the number of participants was low I do not know what I would have done if it would have been 100 participants.

Educator Preparation and Development
Area II of the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020 is Educator Preparation and Development. I describe this area as the extent to which the campus' staff members understand the importance of and implement the developing of new learning environments that are immersed in the integration of technology. Based on the information provided in the STaR Chart summary reports and the progress reports for the Long Range Plan for Technology, there has been an increase in the opportunities for professional development that target technology use in the education field. Although there has been an increase in the availability of professional development sessions I feel they are not being taken advantage of because most campuses are rated at a developing tech level of progress. In fact, statewide 74% of campuses are at a developing tech level and only .6% have reached the target tech level. I feel the best way to help improve the progress levels in this category is to make sure campus teachers are aware of and familiar with all of the technology available for use at the campus. Furthermore, this technology needs to be accessible by all. It would also be beneficial if the teachers are encouraged to visit informational websites that promote the integration of technology in daily classroom lessons. Teachers should also have exposure to the programs that are currently established to strengthen teachers' knowledge and provide tools for meeting the demands of 21st century learners.

WEEK TWO in ELED 5301
After completing week two of ELED 5301 I have gained valuable insight on how action research can be used in an educational setting and the benefits it can bring. I discovered that although all research projects are different they all share one goal; to improve student achievement. It was also interesting to see how various scholars applied action research projects on their campus/district and how each was approached differently and served a different purpose. I was able to understand how it can be used to increase my own personal knowledge, but also to increase that of the faculty and staff.
