Action Research Plan
My goal with this action research plan is to identify the correlation between student progress and absenteeism and tardiness. As a result of findings I would like to identify strategies that could be used to promote student progress.

WEEK TWO in ELED 5301
After completing week two of ELED 5301 I have gained valuable insight on how action research can be used in an educational setting and the benefits it can bring. I discovered that although all research projects are different they all share one goal; to improve student achievement. It was also interesting to see how various scholars applied action research projects on their campus/district and how each was approached differently and served a different purpose. I was able to understand how it can be used to increase my own personal knowledge, but also to increase that of the faculty and staff.

How can a leader use a blog?
A blog can be used by leaders as a method of communication beyond the school setting. Leaders are constantly gaining new knowledge over various topics as they research or experience things first hand. Blogs are a great way for these insights to be shared with other leaders or aspiring leaders.
Findings on Action Research
After gaining some insight on action research I have come to find that it is a valuable tool that should be used not only by administrators, but also by staff and faculty as well. This will enable educators to become lifelong learners and grow as professionals while they continuously strengthen their practice. From my understanding action research is taking a simple wondering that affects your work practice and taking it upon yourself to investigate it an gain new knowledge over the matter. Furthermore, action research is guided by your specific thoughts and ideas, and therefore becomes more personal and beneficial for your campus.
As a new administrator in this always changing world I know I will be left with many wonderings and question many methods of practice I come across. With this in mind, action research will help me gain a better perspective on all of those thoughts. It will also guide me towards putting into use new information that is specifically geared towards the needs and wants of my campus not those of a general and broad audience.
Overall, if I continue to use action research in my career as an administrator or educator, my growth as a professional will become more valuable and centered on my community.
